TOURNAMENTS

GWENT Masters plays host two types of tournaments: community-powered ones, and official tournaments organized by CD PROJEKT RED.

CD PROJEKT RED TOURNAMENTS

ONLINE QUALIFIERS

Each month (from February to September, except for the offseason months) the top 16 and top 64 players from the Pro Rank leaderboards of the previous month will be invited to play in online qualifiers. For example, based on January 2023 Pro Rank standings, participants of 2 Online Qualifiers in February 2023 will be selected.

The 1st online qualifier will be held monthly for the top 16 players in the Pro Rank leaderboard of the previous month. The format of this tournament will be double elimination. Winners of both lower and higher brackets will reserve their spot at the Mid-Season Tournament (January-April Qualifiers) or the Group Stage of the World Masters tournament (July-September Qualifiers). The 14 players who do not qualify in the 1st online qualifier will be able to try again in the 2nd online qualifier in the same month.

The 2nd online qualifier will be held monthly for the top 64 players in the Pro Rank leaderboard of the previous month. The format of this tournament will consist of 2 stages:

Day 1 – Swiss system for top 64 players (6 rounds)

Day 2 – Double elimination system for top 16 players based on Day 1 results.

Winners of both lower and higher brackets will reserve their spot at the Mid-Season Tournament (January-April Qualifiers) or the Group Stage of the World Masters tournament (July-September Qualifiers).

Players who qualify to the Group Stage of World Masters will also receive 5 Crown Points.

The official rulesets of online qualifiers, their schedule, and other important details will be communicated in advance before each tournament of that type.

MID-SEASON TOURNAMENT

Mid-Season Tournament is a new addition to the GWENT Masters series. It will be organized for 16 players – finalists of 8 Online Qualifiers leading to the Mid-Season Tournament.

This tournament will consist of 2 stages: Group stage and Playoff stage.

Group stage will be played in a Double Tournament, also known as GSL, format (Best-of-Five). 16 participants will be seeded into 4 groups. Winning two matches in a row will allow players to get to the 1st place of the group and qualify to the playoff stage. Losing a match will move a player to the lower bracket.

8 players will advance to the Playoff stage, which will be played using the traditional Single Elimination format (Best-of-Five). A player will be eliminated from the tournament if they lose a match. To achieve victory, players must win 3 out of 5 games against their opponent.

All 16 players who qualify to the tournament will receive Crown Points as follows:

WORLD MASTERS

The season will conclude with the GWENT World Masters — the ultimate tier of official tournaments organized by CD PROJEKT RED. It will consist of two stages: Group stage and Playoff stage, similarly to the Mid-Season Tournament.

A total of 14 players will compete in this grand finale tournament:

  • (Group Stage) 12 finalists of 6 Online Qualifiers leading to the World Masters tournament
  • (Playoff Stage) 6 players advancing from the Group Stage will be joined by 1 winner of the Mid-Season Tournament, and 1 player with the most Crown Points in the global rankings.

In the Group Stage, 12 participants will be seeded into 3 groups, and 2 winners from each group will qualify to the Playoff Stage.

In the Playoff Stage, 6 finalists of the Group Stage will be joined by the winner of the Mid-Season Tournament and the player with the most Crown Points in the global rankings. They will play in the traditional Single Elimination format: players will be eliminated from the tournament if they lose a match.

The total prize pool of the GWENT World Masters will be at least 40 000 US dollars prize pool.

COMMUNITY TOURNAMENTS

These are tournaments organized by the player community and the prize pool of these events should not exceed 10 000 US dollars. Community tournaments can take place online, as well as on-site. However, players will not receive Crown Points for either participating or placing in them.

If you’d like to host your own community-powered GWENT tournament, make sure to check out and follow the official GWENT community tournament guidelines on the website.
